Holbrook Privilege Card
The purpose of this correspondence is to notify you of an important new Club development regarding the introduction of a 'dual pricing' policy for the bar and kitchen outlets.
The Club will be implementing a 'Holbrook Privilege Card' scheme in May 2010 whereby members will benefit from lower bar and kitchen prices and non-members and Club guests will pay a higher price tariff.
Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ'S) section for further details regarding the scheme.
A summary of the key features is as follows;
- There will be no requirement to re-issue new membership cards as the new tills will accept existing membership cards when purchasing bar and kitchen products.
- Membership cards will be required to be in credit in order to benefit from the lower bar and kitchen price tariff.
- Once 'live', credit will be obtained from either the bar, kitchen, reception or Club Office locations.
- The 'live' date will be in May 2010 and the exact date will be communicated to members separately.
- Members will be able to 'top' up membership cards with credit effective from the 'live' date.
- The current system of purchasing bar and kitchen products will continue until the 'live' date.
'Holbrook Privilege Card' - Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ's
Q1. When will the Club implement this scheme?
A. It is intended that the scheme will go 'live' in May 2010. An exact date will be notified in advance of the actual 'going live' date.
Q2. Why is the Club introducing this scheme?
A. The Club is introducing this scheme in order to raise additional bar revenue via non-member generated activity (as opposed to members), which will ensure that future member bar/Club price increases are kept to a minimum (e.g. Government Duty and Club supplier increases). As the scheme will be a 'cashless' one, it will enable the Club to be more responsive to and flexible with any imposed external factors which necessitate small bar increases, i.e. 1p, 2p, 3p or 4p, on products. The scheme will reduce the amount of cash held on site. The additional generated non-member bar revenue will assist the Club to invest continually in updating and refurbishing Club facilities/buildings etc.
Q3. How will the scheme operate?
A. The scheme will operate a 'dual' price policy on bar purchases, a higher tariff for non-members/guests and a lower tariff for members. In order to benefit from the lower price tariff, members will be required to present an in 'credit' valid membership card to bar staff, who will swipe the card through the till and the lower price tariff will be displayed, either via the screen or as a till receipt, for payment. Existing Club members will NOT be required to be issued with new membership cards.
Q4. As a Club member what do I need to do in order to receive the lower member bar prices?
A. You will be required to 'top up' your existing/new membership card at the following Club outlets; bar, kitchen, reception or Club office. The minimum 'top up' will be £10.00 for adult members and £5.00 for Under 18's and there will not be a maximum. N.B. The Club reserves the right to alter the minimum 'top up' amount for operational reasons if required, although advance notification will be provided. You will be able to 'top up' via cash, cheque (payable to "The Holbrook Club") or credit/debit card.
Q5. What if I do not have 'credit' on my membership card?
A. You will not be entitled to receive lower member bar prices and you will have to pay the higher non-member bar prices. The scheme will operate on a strict "No Card, No Lower Member Price" policy.
Q6. How will I know how much credit I have on my card?
A. You will be provided a till receipt, if required, after each bar transaction which will detail your transaction and balance, or, if you do not require a till receipt, this information will be displayed on the till. Alternatively, you will be able (in person or via telephone), at any time, to ask Club staff to provide your details at either the bar, kitchen, reception or Club office outlets.
Q7. Will I be able to benefit from the lower member prices if I run out of 'credit'?
A. No. You will not be able to benefit from the lower member bar prices if you do not have credit on your card. However, you will be able to 'top up' your card with cash, cheque or credit/debit card, following which the lower member bar prices will become applicable.
Q8. What happens to any credit balance if I terminate my Club membership?
A. Any balance can be used up during the 30 day notice period. However, if any balance has not been used up it will not be refundable.
Q9. What happens if I lose my membership card?
A. You must notify the Club immediately that you discover you have lost your card. A block will immediately be put in place to prevent any other member/non-member utilising your card for bar purchases. The existing £2.50 replacement card fee will still apply. For security purposes, and to avoid potential misuse, members are strongly urged to have their photograph taken at reception. This will generate your photograph on the till, in addition to your membership details, when your card is activated for purchases. Obviously, Club staff will be instructed to question those members using a card where the photograph does not match the individual.
Q10. What bar price list will be displayed?
A. The higher non-member price list will be displayed.
Q11. How much differential will there be between the lower and higher price tariff?
A. It is intended that the higher bar price tariff will be positioned at a point between existing Club prices and slightly below 'pub' prices.
Q12. If I do not have my membership card with me would I be able to pay cash, cheque or credit/debit card and still receive the lower member bar price tariff?
A. No. The system will not be programmed to accept cash, cheque or credit/debit card payments from members in exchange for the lower member bar prices.
Q13. Will the Club be introducing the same scheme for the kitchen?
A. Yes, although there will be a smaller differential between member and non-member prices. The answers to all of the above questions remain relevant.
Q14. Will members be able to set up a Direct Debit, which will automatically include 'credit' on membership cards?
A. No, not at this stage. However, this option may well be added at a later date. Again, advance notification will be provided.
